Location
Bridgeport, CT

Description
The Client needed to renovate an existing warehouse/office facility into a new church sanctuary, office, and activity center as part of a 2-phase project.  An initial inspection of the building by Level 5 engineers evaluated the existing building structure, and determined the economical feasibility of this renovation.  By utilizing our modeling software, Level 5 was able to provide the design team with multiple framing scenarios to determine the most economical and feasible type of construction.

As part of the design, Level 5 Engineers reinforced the existing exterior masonry walls with a layer of shotcrete to provide increase load carrying capacity.  The structural design maximized the flexibility of the space by providing a column free sanctuary roof members spanning over 100’.  Our engineers also utilized precast concrete floor panels to combine strength, minimal structural depth, and construction speed for the new office area of the building.
